OUR PARTNERS

Promoting health and healing through life-saving care for children suffering with congenital heart defects.

BRINGING CARE TO KIDS IN NEED

The Alpha Foundation

One of our earliest supporters was Lonnie McMillan, co-founder of the telecommunications company Adtran. Clint met Lonnie, who knew Clint’s son Luke, in a coffee shop. During their conversation about medical missions in Haiti, Clint showed him a picture of a Haitian child who had eye cancer. Lonnie asked, “What can we do?” Clint responded that building an eye center would help. “Lonnie asked me what it would take,” Clint recalls, “and he immediately pulled out a blue checkbook — I’ll never forget that blue checkbook — and wrote me a check for a significant amount.”

The next time Clint saw Lonnie, he told him about the multitude of children with congenital heart defects, and Lonnie again asked what was needed. Again, the blue checkbook came out.

“Lonnie died a few years ago,” says Clint, “but the foundation he helped establish, The Alpha Foundation, Inc., is still an indispensable contributor to Chadasha. Lonnie’s generosity launched a lasting positive impact on children who would die without cardiac surgery.”
